The GGG public library of Basel’s encouragement of reading
Something to think seriously about.... Please support the reading promotions of the GGG public library.

The GGG Public Libraries of Basel offer over 250,000 exciting adventures with books and media for children, teenagers and adults. Approximately 33,000 Baslers already use this special and affordable opportunity, which is open to everyone.

Beyond this, the public library is committed to encourage reading among children, teens and adults.

In order to fulfill this important social role, the GGG public libraries have established the Library Fund. Your sponsorship to encourage reading in Basel would be most welcome.

Free library membership for children and youths
At the GGG public library of Basel, all children and youths up to age 20, living in the canton of Basel-Stadt, receive free library cards.
Playing with nursery rhymes
Parents and their toddlers can profit from the monthly beginner’s book meeting in GGG public libraries. Verse, rhyme and song are a wonderful introduction into the world both language and books.
Reading enjoyment "Fun-pass"
The GGG public library holds promotional reading activities for school children in both winter and summer. During these reading activities, children can enter solutions to puzzles and reading times in a special “fun-pass” to compete for attractive prizes.
Children’s literature bus including reading animations
During 49 weeks of the year, the literature bus visits the GGG public library’s neighborhood libraries and centers, the Children’s Hospital, the Literature House on Sunday, playgrounds, parks, and public swimming pools.
Tell me a story
"Tell me a story" is integration and reading promotion all in one, because hearing stories being aloud is an important preparation for attending school.
First grader's card: Going from being read to, to reading yourself
All first grade school children in Basel-Stadt receive a library card.
Reading encouragement in Kleinhüningen
The GGG public library runs a reading encouragement center in Kleinhüningen with a number of extra cirricular activities.
Reading animation for smallest
Thanks to reading animation children become involved with books long before they are able to read. This is an ideal introduction to being able to read.
Integration library
In the Bläsi library, people from foreign countries can find information regarding both Basel and Switzerland, as well as newspapers or magazines in their own language.
